El libro Explorando el comportamiento informacional es una traducción actualizada y editada como publicación digital que ofrece una síntesis rigurosa y accesible de más de cinco décadas de investigación sobre el comportamiento informacional, entendido como el conjunto de actividades humanas relacionadas con la búsqueda, el acceso, el uso y la comunicación de la información. La obra no pretende describir de forma exhaustiva todos los contextos empíricos, sino proporcionar un marco conceptual sólido que permita comprender los procesos y factores que influyen en la interacción de las personas con la información. A lo largo del texto, el autor revisa los principales modelos teóricos del campo —incluidos sus propios desarrollos— e integra aportaciones de disciplinas como la psicología, la sociología y la comunicación, subrayando el papel de variables contextuales, cognitivas y afectivas en la conducta informacional. Asimismo, amplía el enfoque tradicional de la “búsqueda de información” hacia el concepto más amplio de "comportamiento informacional", incorporando tanto la búsqueda intencional como formas pasivas o accidentales de descubrimiento de información. En conjunto, la obra se configura como una introducción estructurada que articula teoría y evidencia para explicar cómo y por qué las personas interactúan con la información, consolidando un enfoque centrado en el usuario que ha resultado fundamental para la investigación, la docencia y el diseño de sistemas de información. Este libro inaugura la serie de la Cátedra UNESCO en Gestión de Información en las Organizaciones dentro de EDITUM (Ediciones de la Universidad de Murcia).
